How to be kawaii ♡

8/29/2013

Hello my angels! Today I'm going to teach you how to be kawaii! Kawaii is a Japanese term which means "cute". It is a very common word used everywhere. Many people want to dress, act, and talk cute. Today, I will teach you how to be as cute as a button. Let's start!

1. First find your favourite Japanese cartoon character. Some examples would be; Hello Kitty, Doraemon, My Melody and so on. By picking a favourite character it will sort of be like a signature. You can buy Hello Kitty keychains, plushies, accessories and many more kawaii things! I personally love Rilakkuma ^__^

2. Watch anime and read manga. Of course you can eliminate this step but it really fits in the 'kawaii theme'. Watching anime has nothing to do with age, you can be mid aged and still enjoy cartoons. By watching anime you can also cosplay as your favourite character. Cosplay means to dress up as a character whether it being from an anime, manga or video game. There are probably many cosplay conventions in your city, just try to find out when!

3. Dress kawaii. By dressing kawaii you don't have to be a lolita. A few kawaii things to look for are things that have frills, lace, hearts, and the colour pink. If you don't like pink you can choose your favourite colour. Try to look for inspiration by reading Japanese magazines or even watching kpop videos. Lots of kpop stars have a really cute wardrobe. Another thing you should look for are cute accessories. Headbands and bows are really kawaii~ Also try to look for cute necklaces and earrings. You don't have to look for expensive stores, you can probably find these things at forever 21! Just look for something that you think is cute!

4. Circle lenses. I made a post about circle lenses, so read that first. Circle lenses are what many people wear to enlarge their eyes and give themselves an innocent look. Purchase lenses from reliable sites and make sure not to get scammed. By wearing circle lenses it will make you look very cute, I promise! ^~^

5. Makeup. If you want to look kawaii you should keep the makeup to a minimum. Use a BB cream instead of a foundation. Also use eyeliner and fake lashes to give your eyes some dimension. You can also add a white liner to your water line if you want to get wider eyes. For the lips, keep your lipstick pink and use a lip gloss to add shine. That's it! If you put on heavy makeup you will turn from kawaii panda to a sexy grizzly bear~

6. Be confident. By dressing overly cute you may get negative feed back. But most of the time you will get lots of people telling you they love your style. Remember to always keep your head up high and don't value other peoples opinion.

7. Find some inspiration by looking up some Japanese singers. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is my favourite idol when it comes to kawaii fashion! She is just super cute and stylish! Here are a few pictures of her:
