1/08/2014
Don't you just hate it when your lips are dry and flaky? Or maybe you have a bad habit of biting your lips. Well, you're just like me. I want to be totally honest with you guys. I am a fellow lip biter myself. It's nothing to be ashamed about, its rather natural for you have bad habits like this. But just because we have these kinds of habits doesn't mean we should leave it as "habits", we should try to fox them. Here is a list of things you can do to get rid of those dry ripping lips.
First off let's try to eliminate some things that can cause dry lips:
- Excessively licking your lips
- Biting your lips (can cause your lips to bleed)
- Not moisturizing your lips enough
- Dehydration
- Allergic reaction towards lip products
- Nutrition deficiency
- Sunburn

Now here are some home remedies to cure these bad boys!
Cucumber
Cucumbers are a good moisturizer and keeps your lips soft and smooth. Cut a slice of cucumber and rub it on your lips for 2 minutes. Over time, the cucumber— which has lightening agents will lighten the colour of your lips leaving you with pink lips. Shall I say hitting two birds with one stone?
Honey
Honey is probably my favourite thing when it comes to beauty. It's just so versatile and has been used for thousands of years. If it's good enough for Queen Cleopatra, it's good enough for us! All you need is raw honey and rub it on your lips. Make sure it is pure honey and not the commercialized one. For an added effect you can add sugar to the honey and use it as an exfoliater! Just make sure you moisturize when you're done because exfoliating can dry out your lips even more.
Aloe Vera Gel
This plant is the bomb dot com when it comes to anything beauty related. This plant is a common household plant that has many herbal benefits. It has a natural cooling agent that moisturizes the lips. It's also the fastest cure so you should definitely try it out. They sell it at most supermarkets, again just make sure it is 100% pure aloe vera gel.
Rose petals
Rose petals are given as a symbol of love but who said this loooove can't be used for our lips? Gather some rose petals and add it to a bowl filled with milk. Leave it over night so that the rose petals soften. When you wake up drain the milk so that the rose petals are the only thing in the bowl. Crush the rose petals to make it into a paste. Rub the paste all over your lips and leave it on for 5 minutes. Wash it off afterwards and your left with soft supple lips. Do this for about 3-5 days to see great results.
Water
Of course this is one of the major causes for dry lips. Our lips, just like our face shows dehydration quite well. Drinking 8 glasses of water everyday will change the state of your lips in no time. This won't only help our lips but also our whole body too!
Coconut oil
Adding pure coconut oil on our lips several times a day can cure dry lips. It has a moisturized effect which will leave your lips soft to the touch. You can also substitute this with ghee or unsalted butter, but coconut oil works the best. All you have to do is take a small amount of coconut oil and massage it onto your lips. Massage in circular motions for 2-3 minutes. Do this 3 times a day for best results. Once you notice that your lips are not dry anymore then you can limit it to once a week.
