TARTE Swamp Queen Eye and Cheek Palette Review

8/09/2016

On Friday, I went to Sephora looking for an eye shadow palette that I can get use of from every colour. I've had my Naked 3 palette for more than 2 years and I've only hit pan on 1 colour! I find that it has a large variety of pink shimmers so I never really used the palette often. I was strolling through Sephora and I found this palette literally glowing! It was on a high stand and the bright lights above it made the palette look like it was blessed with some kind of angelic presence. I'm so dramatic, I know. But in all honestly the palette stood out to me for some reason. I went over to swatch it on my hand and you guys.. I. SCREAMED. The colour 'Sippy Sippy' made me fall in love with the palette instantly! It is dark brown with some gold sparkle. The shade 'Dogman' is another one of my favourites. It's a rusty orange colour with a bit of shimmer. The reason I'm in love with this palette is because it is literally a mission for me to find eye shadows that actually show up on my skin tone. This palette is super pigmented and the colours are very versatile. The only thing I have to mention is that you NEED to use an eye primer before using this palette. If you don't use an eye primer, the shadow will fade within twenty minutes or so (especially the glitter infused ones). The palette is described as neutral-matte with bold shadows. The colours are honestly so pretty and vibrant! The exciting part of this palette is that it comes with a little something for the cheeks! There is a bronzer, blush and highlighter included in this palette. The bronzer is nice but if find it to be a tad bit orange for my liking, but I layer this on top of my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer and it is the perfect combo. Speaking of Too Faced, this palette smells just like the chocolate bar palette! I am a huge fan of Bunny (grav3yardgirl) and I was gushing when I found out that she named every colour after a catchphrase that only fans would understand! 'Does This Thing Really Work?' is the name of the blush, and I have to say YES IT WORKS AMAZINGLY. It's a nice shade of pink that has a bit of glitter in it, but the glitter isn't too overpowering. I was surprised that I would like it this much! Out of everything in the palette, the thing that surprised me the most was the how pigmented the highlighter is! It is so pigmented and goes on smoothly. I would recommend patting the highlighter on your cheeks rather than rubbing it in (this prevents a ton of glitter fall out). The variety of the colours makes it great to experiment a new look everyday. You can go for a natural bronze look or a deep purple smokey eye!
